It’s been a while since the last post but that isn’t because there aren’t things happening!
I’ve spent a bit of time working on tightening up a few areas that could use some improvement. As I talked about in Finding Balance, attention needs to be given to many different facets of everyone’s lives in order to give us all the best chance of real fulfillment. However, priorities can change pretty easily if you’re not careful (and even if you are, sometimes) and you just have to manage it as best you can.
One of those things that’s been occupying my time is getting ready to move. After about 3 and a half years in my current apartment, I’m packing up and moving to another spot in town but far closer to work. I signed the lease this past Friday and couldn’t be more excited. Part of the excitement is that I’ll be allowed to have a grill, part that the kitchen has a gas range, and part that I’m a hair over a mile from work so walking is not only within the realm of possibility, I really don’t have a compelling excuse not to.
Another major priority is throwing myself into learning the newest version of my company’s flagship product. Since I’ll be expected to support it and it’s released in a few weeks, this has definitely been up high on the to-do list. I’m also trying to learn other things as my job duties will be shifting slightly as soon as someone can be brought to our team in to take some of the load off my back.
So, despite these things, I’m working to maintain the aspects of my life that I’ve identified as being most important. I’m now on day 25/38 of my current diet and training cycle and working on the plans for the next phase. Near the end of March, the current plan is to begin training to participate in one of the items on The List; I plan to participate in Run For Your Lives on June 23, 2012 to be followed by the Warrior Dash in mid-August.
The calendar for the next month or so is looking pretty glorious as well. Among other things, I’m very much looking forward to my yearly trek to Columbus, OH from March 1-4 for the Arnold Classic and then to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra on March 16…both with Seven. This year’s Arnold will mark my fifth visit (her fourth) to the largest Sports and Fitness festival and convention in the country and we’ll be bringing three newbies along, one of whom has just started her journey toward getting healthier.
Needless to say, some of the previous priorities had to go on hold (haven’t touched my camera in…well, a while) but things will be settling down very soon and I fully expect my sense of fulfillment to rise dramatically shortly thereafter. Then it’s time to start working on The List again.
